“Confidence isn’t about will they like me. Confidence is, I'll be fine even if they don't'.”

- Christina Grimmie

I invested time, money, and energy into finding a “fix,” believing that if I could make peace with my skin, I could finally feel whole. But the real transformation wasn’t in the creams or the therapies—it was in the shift from fighting who I was to embracing myself fully.

Vitiligo didn’t take my confidence; it forced me to redefine what confidence truly is. It’s not about being fearless or pretending that other people’s opinions don’t matter. It’s not about faking it until you make it. True confidence comes from knowing yourself—deeply, unapologetically—and standing in that truth. It’s about recognising that your worth isn’t tied to how you look or how others perceive you, but to who you are.

That shift changed everything.

Today, I stand as the most authentic version of myself, and it feels incredible. Not because I’ve stopped caring what others think, but because I finally know who I am. And when you know who you are, the need for external validation fades. You move differently. You show up differently. You live differently.

My journey has been a gift—one I wouldn’t trade for anything. And if I can help just one person see their own beauty, strength, and worth, then every challenge, every setback, and every moment of self-doubt has been worth it.

One of the most personal things about me is that I have vitiligo. It appeared in my mid-twenties—what I like to call the prime of life—and changed how I saw myself overnight. When you Google vitiligo, you’ll find a clinical definition: a chronic autoimmune disease that causes white patches on the skin due to a loss of pigment. But I’ve never liked the word “disease.” It carries weight I refuse to hold. Instead, I call it a condition—one that has shaped me but no longer defines me.

But my struggle with self-acceptance didn’t begin with vitiligo. As a first-generation Australian with Mediterranean heritage, I grew up feeling different. My dark features stood out among my fair-haired, blue-eyed classmates, and I longed to blend in, believing that sameness was the key to belonging. By my late teens, I had finally started embracing my natural beauty—then vitiligo appeared. Small white patches turned into a reality I wasn’t ready for, and suddenly, the confidence I had worked so hard to build crumbled.

I spent years hiding—behind long sleeves, behind excuses, behind a version of myself I thought was more acceptable. I obsessed over treatments, searching for ways to stop or reverse the change.

Thank you for being here and allowing me to share a little about who I am.
